Continuous Form Paper: This type of paper is a single, long sheet folded into a stack (fan-fold) with perforations at regular intervals, allowing individual sheets to be easily separated after printing.
Pin-Feed Holes: Along both sides of the paper, there are punched holes (tractor holes or sprocket holes) that engage with the "tractor-feed mechanism" of dot-matrix printers, ensuring precise alignment and smooth paper feeding.
Multi-Part Forms: The "2PLY" indicates that it's a multi-part form, meaning it consists of two layers of paper. These layers are typically carbonless copy paper (NCR - No Carbon Required), where pressure from the printer head transfers the image from the top sheet to the sheet(s) below without needing carbon paper in between. This makes it ideal for creating instant duplicates of documents.

Once these margins are removed (torn off along the perforations), the usable width of the paper is typically narrower, often around 8.5". The 11" length refers to the height of each individual sheet when separated.
Ply (Layers):
- 2-Ply: Consists of two sheets of paper. This usually means an original (top sheet) and one copy (bottom sheet).
- "Up" (Impressions per Sheet):
- 2-Up: This refers to the printing layout. "2-Up" means that two copies of the same document or two different documents (if designed as such) are printed side-by-side on a single continuous sheet. After printing, the sheet is then cut or separated to yield two individual forms. This method is used to increase printing efficiency, reduce paper waste, and save on production costs.
